Stop Climate Chaos

AFC Liverpool turns blue!

Press Release 30/11/09

Yes it’s true, on Saturday 5 December 2009 at 3.00pm, AFC Liverpool (an ‘all red team') will wear blue shirts during their home top of the table clash against Stone Dominoes!

This event will support The Wave - the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change - organised by Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. Tens of thousands of people from all walks of life, will march through the streets of London to demonstrate their support for a safe climate future for all, ahead of the crucial UN climate summit in Copenhagen.

Fans are asked to show their support by wearing blue, as the colour symbolises the rising sea levels. This is an opportunity for the club to show that it cares about this important global issue. We are ‘Green Ambassadors’ for Liverpool City Council’s ‘year of the environment’ – the only football club:

‘Our Football Cub, Our City, Our Planet.’

The Wave, part of a global series of public actions, calls the UK government to take urgent action to Protect the Poorest, Act Fair & Fast, and to Quit Dirty Coal.
